Chowdeck Acquires Mira To Elevate Restaurant Services In Nigeria.

Chowdeck solidifies its position in Nigeria’s food-tech space by acquiring Mira, a fast-growing POS hardware startup. This strategic move enhances Chowdeck’s offerings and strengthens its ties with restaurant partners. The deal adds Mira’s inventory management, payment processing, and inventory financing tools to Chowdeck’s delivery ecosystem. The price of the acquisition is undisclosed. Mira CEO Oladele will join Chowdeck as Head of Product, with some Mira employees to scale the new business segment.

What Mira Offers

Founded in January 2024, Mira introduced a QR-based payment solution and quickly evolved after restaurants expressed a need for traditional point-of-sale systems. The startup then launched its “Mira register” a complete POS hardware featuring dual displays, integrated receipt printer, barcode scanner, and wireless connectivity, all built into a single device priced at ₦360,000 ($226 USD).

This device tracks orders, manages inventory and processes payments via embedded accounts like Budpay or VFD. Its integration with food delivery apps like Chowdeck and Glovo already links restaurants to multiple sales channels using one seamless platform.

Chowdeck’s Strategic Vision

Chowdeck aims to deepen relationships with restaurants by offering more than delivery logistics. By acquiring Mira, Chowdeck takes a step into operational infrastructure helping restaurants manage orders, track stock and accept payments inreal time. This acquisition aligns with the mission to build an end-to-end restaurant ecosystem not just delivery.

The startup has delivered over ₦30 billion worth of meals in 2024, serves over 1 million users, 3,000 riders and more than 3,000 businesses across eight Nigerian cities. Combining this wide network with Mira’s POS system accelerates restaurants’ digital transformation.

Integrating Hardware and logistics

Mira’s hardware operates reliably even in low-connectivity environments, addressing a common challenge in Nigeria. The platform supports flexible payment methods and offers subscription-tiered pricing from basic plans to enterprise-level features

Chowdeck gained traction by forging strong B2B relationships and refining delivery processes. Mira’s existing restaurant integrations with chowdeck position the acquirer to seamlessly onboard hardware users onto its delivery network with minimal friction.

Benefits For Small and Medium Restaurants

Together, these companies offer an intelligent toolkit: real-time sales tracking, operational analytics, centralized payment processing and automatic delivery dispatch. This tech stack empowers chefs and restaurant owners to streamline operations, reduce admin costs and improve customer experience.

Expanded integration could also enable shared data insights, helping partners optimize menus, tweak pricing or adjust ordering processes based on performance metrics.

What’s Next For Chowdeck and Mira

Chowdeck plans to roll out Mira registers to its restaurants base this year, building hardware installation with logistics support. The company could replicate this model across more African cities.

The acquisition highlights a shift in food-tech platforms: they now compete not just on delivery but on total operational excellence for partner restaurants. By integrating ordering, payments and delivery, chowdeck creates compelling value for all stakeholders.
