According to media reports, Gokada has sacked most of its workforce due to the decision of the Lagos state government to ban Okada and tricycles in major parts of the state. The decision was reportedly taken two days after the announcement was made.

Confirming the development, Gokada’s founder Fahim Saleh said the startup will “need to transition to being the best logistics provider.

Saleh suggested this may not be happening at Gokada as the startup is considering pivoting to providing delivery logistics services in Lagos.

“We still have money in the bank and are pivoting towards deliveries while this transport ban gets sorted. We were due to make a profit in January before the ban was announced,” Saleh said.
