Kunda Kids Raises $700,000 in Pre-seed Round To Promote Growth

Kunda Kids, a Nigerian-owned Ed-Tech startup based in London, has successfully concluded a $700,000 pre-seed fundraising round which will help its expansion and growth. The funds will play a crucial role in bolstering the company’s production capabilities, expanding its market reach, and providing enriching storytelling experiences to a broader audience.

The funding round was led by Zrosk Investment Management and also saw participation from HoaQ, Voltron Capital, Argentil Capital, and Kaleo Ventures, together with angel investors Abi Ajayi, Chiamaka Ezenwa, Adetayo Bamiduro of MAX, and Benjamin Fernandes, CEO of Nala Money.

In addition to the funding, the digital content company has unveiled its latest project, “Kunda and Friends,” a music-led 3D animation series tailored for children, set in a captivating African landscape.

Established in 2020 by Oladele Olafuyi and Louisa Olafuyi, Kunda Kids focuses on the production of African music-led animated series. The company has emerged as an acclaimed and award-winning children’s media publisher and creative studio, committed to inspiring the next generation of global citizens.

“I am thrilled to announce the successful closing of our pre-seed round, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the inspiring investors who share our vision. This milestone allows us to launch Kunda & Friends and invest in exceptional creative talent across Africa. We are committed to bringing forth a new generation of African storytellers, and together, we will change the narrativ,” co-founder and CEO, Oladele Olafuyi commented.

Kunda Kids’ objective is to present various facets of African culture in engaging, enjoyable, and accessible formats for children. Their book, “Africa’s Little Kings & Queens,” which is distributed in over 130 countries and accessible in more than 300 schools and libraries worldwide, has sold over 20,000 copies within a span of two years.

The inception and concept behind Kunda Kids originated from a desire to introduce greater cultural diversity, historical awareness, and language learning into children’s literature, with the aim of promoting inclusivity.

The company’s mission centers around instilling essential values such as self-confidence, teamwork, and kindness in children. Through vibrant and captivating storytelling techniques, Kunda Kids strives to foster cultural appreciation and produce high-quality content that resonates with children from diverse backgrounds.
