Nigeria Customs Service Recruitment 2025: Applications Open for 3,927 Positions Across Cadres

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced the opening of its recruitment process for positions across the Superintendent, Inspector, and Customs Assistant cadres for the 2025 intake.

This recruitment drive follows the approval to recruit 3,927 officers, aimed at enhancing trade facilitation and advancing Nigeria’s economic recovery agenda.

In a statement, the NCS advised prospective applicants to remain cautious and avoid being deceived by fraudulent individuals attempting to exploit the process.

“Our recruitment process is completely FREE and FAIR. We DO NOT charge any fees at any stage of the recruitment process. If anyone demands payment, they are scammers,” the statement read.

Application Requirements

Candidates who wish to apply must meet the following general criteria:

  • Be a Nigerian citizen by birth.
  • Possess a valid National Identification Number (NIN).
  • Have no criminal record or pending investigations.
  • Be physically and mentally sound, with proof of medical fitness from a government-recognized hospital.

Academic Qualifications

  • Superintendent Cadre: Applicants must possess a University Degree, Higher National Diploma (HND), or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution, along with an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
  • Inspectorate Cadre: A National Diploma (ND) or a Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) from an approved institution is required.
  • Customs Assistant Cadre: Applicants need at least an O’Level certificate (WAEC or NECO).

Application Timeline and Process

The recruitment portal opened on December 27, 2024, and will close on January 2, 2025. Interested and qualified candidates are encouraged to apply online through the official website: https://recruitment.customs.gov.ng.

Strengthening the NCS Workforce

This recruitment effort is part of broader measures to enhance the capacity of the Nigeria Customs Service, which plays a pivotal role in the nation’s economic recovery strategy. The decision to recruit was announced at the NCS’ 61st quarterly board meeting held on December 18, 2024, at the Customs House in Maitama, Abuja.

This move aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2025 budget, which sets ambitious revenue targets of N35 trillionfor the year. By November 2024, the NCS had already contributed over N5 trillion to the nation’s revenue.

Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) Recruitment

In a related effort, the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) also announced new recruitment plans, reinforcing the government’s dedication to strengthening revenue-generating agencies as part of its broader economic recovery blueprint.

The NCS reiterates that the recruitment process is entirely free and warns applicants not to pay anyone claiming to assist with their application. Applicants should ensure they complete their applications before the deadline of January 2, 2025.
