Meta’s artificial Intelligence assistant, Meta AI, has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing one billion monthly active users across its suite of applications, including Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp and Mesaanger. CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced this achievement during the company’s annual shareholder meeting, highlighting the rapid growth from 500 million users in September 2024 to the current figure.
Launch Of Standalone Meta AI App
In April 2025, Meta introduced a standalone Meta AI App, expanding access beyond its integration within existing platforms. The app offers personalized responses by leveraging user data from Meta’s ecosystem and is powered by the company’s latest large language model, Llama 4. Features include voice conversations, image generation and integration with Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses.
Monetization Through Subscription Services
With the growing user base, Meta is exploring monetization strategies for Meta AI. Mark Zuckerberg indicated plans to introduce a subscription service that would offer users access to more advanced features and increased computational resources. This move aligns with industry trends, as cmpetitors like OpenAI and Google have already implemented paid tiers for their AI services.
Focus On Personalization and User Engagement
Meta aims to deepen user engagement by enhancing personalization within Meta AI. The assistant is designed to adapt to individual user preferences, providing more relevant and context-aware responses. Additionally, the company plans to integrate product recommendations and potentially ads within the AI experience, further tailoring interactions to user interests.
Future Outlook
As Meta continues to invest heavily in AI development, with projected expenditures reaching up to $72 billion, the company positions Meta AI as a central component of its long-term strategy. The introduction of subscription services and enhanced personalization features aims to solidify Meta AI’s role as a leading personal AI assistant in the market.
