Nigeria is a very large country, and the rate of internet users in the country is increasing by the day. Video streaming platforms, most especially YouTube, are now benefitting from this surge as Nigerians use their medium to stream and watch videos, performances and skits of their favourite celebrities.

In this article, we bring you the top 10 most viewed Nigerian videos ever on YouTube, (Spoiler: They are all music videos).

10. BANK ALERT – PSQUARE – 73.1 MILLION VIEWS

It’s quite sad that popular twin Peter and Paul Okoye have gone separate ways, but no one can say they don’t miss when they were together as Psquare. No doubt one of the best in the history of Nigerian music, Psquare wasn’t just good at singing, but their videos were fantastic.. in their prime they were ahead of the game when it comes to making videos in the Nigerian music industry and Bank Alert garnered over 73 million YouTube views after its release in September 2016 making it the tenth most viewed video.

9. COLLABO – PSQUARE FEAT. DON JAZZY – 74.1 MILLION VIEWS

Psquare released a song called Shekini in November 2014 that got 69 million views on YouTube and they weren’t going to stop that period as three months later they dropped another hit featuring Don Jazzy titled Collabo that got positive reviews from critics. The video grabbed over 74 million YouTube views putting it ninth on our list.

8. COME CLOSER – WIZKID FEAT. DRAKE – 84.3 MILLION VIEWS

Wizkid released a hit titled Come Closer in April 2017 featuring Canadian Singer and Rapper drake much to the delight of the international music scene and the music video of the song got a whopping 84 million views on YouTube. This is the Wizkid song with the highest number of YouTube views in his entire career, thanks to the genius combination with Drizzy.

7. DO LIKE THAT – KOREDE BELLO – 87.4 MILLION VIEWS

Korede Bello was one of the hottest kids of 2016 and the Mavin prince released a hit titled Do like that in November that year produced by Altims. The video, released by Mavin Records on YouTube got more than 87 million views and it’s still counting making it 7th on the list.

6. PERSONALLY – PSQUARE – 93.6 MILLION VIEWS

Psquare’s best video of all time. Released in June 2013, personally was one of the biggest songs of the year and the video got 93.6 million views on YouTube. According to them, the video was dedicated to Michael Jackson. The dance moves and crazy lines in the video makes it one of a kind and a deserved 6th.

5. IF – DAVIDO – 93.8 MILLION VIEWS

Davido is the current music video king in Nigeria and he isn’t stopping yet. OBO released IF in 2017 and it took the entire African music hemisphere by total storm. The video complemented the elite song and hot almost 94 million YouTube views. The song just pips personally to make the top 5.

4. MAD OVER YOU – RUNTOWN – 95.6 MILLION VIEWS

One of the best songs of 2016 arguably. The best thing is that the song was released in December, a sweet Christmas gift for music lovers. Mad Over You topped all charts when released and the video got just a little short of 96 million views on YouTube putting it fourth on this list.

3. JOHNNY – YEMI ALADE – 109.5 MILLION VIEWS

Yemi Alade had been in the music game for a while before releasing this hit jam titled Johnny and this was the song that took her career to the next level. The video was spectacular and was the most viewed music video for quite sometime before being toppled. The song still remains the most viewed female African music video of all time on YouTube and is the third most viewed overall in Nigeria.

2. PANA – TEKNO – 112.1 MILLION VIEWS

Tekno released Pana in August 2016 and it was undoubtedly the biggest song that year and still remains Tekno’s beat work in his entire career. The video for the song took the world by storm and has gotten over 112 million YouTube views making it the second most-watched Nigerian music video of all time.

1. FALL – DAVIDO – 148.7 MILLION VIEWS AND COUNTING

Fall by Davido was released in June 2017 and was on repeat until the next year. It was the biggest song that year and is definitely one of the best ever made throughout Nigerian music history. The video was released on the 2nd of June, 2017 and toppled Yemi Alade’s Johnny as the most viewed music video of all time. It’s a fact that the video will reach over 150 million views as it’s getting more views as days go by. It will be really hard to beat this record as this song is top 5 most viewed African music video.
